Laura Baksa calls this work “Rainbow Chamber” for the colored light refractions created as the sun passes through its prism windows. The chamber has a working fireplace and a black marble floor. The stonework is inspired by ruined Celtic abbeys and the structure is sited to take advantage of the sun’s transit from dawn to sunset.
The colors seen through the prism windows shift throughout sunset.
Below we see the Gatehouse at sunset, shot from inside. There are two slate-roofed cupolas at either end. Round prism windows at each side of the door cast rainbows on the stone walls and ground from morning to sunset.
This Gothic stone folly features antique leaded glass and an open Gothic arch window. It creates a magical meditation space in the woods. Other whimsical structures created by Laura Baksa include stone fountains and rock "thrones."
The Lion Fountain below is made with fieldstone, granite and slate and features a masonry lion head and Roman bowl. The fountain basin catches roof runoff water.
